President Trump was aware of the deliveries, the Wall Street Journal reported.

On Friday, The Wall Street Journal published an article showing that the administration of President Donald Trump clandestinely sent about 6,000 Starlink satellite internet terminals to Iran.

For the first time directly, Washington had sent equipment from Elon Musk’s company to Iran, where owning a Starlink terminal is illegal and carries a prison sentence of several years..

Since late 2025, the State Department had acquired about 7,000 Starlink terminals, the WSJ said, citing U.S. officials. Trump was aware of the deliveries, authorities told the newspaper, but it was unclear whether he or anyone else directly approved the plan.

In recent months, Iran has accused the United States of fomenting violent protests to generate “regime change” through an alleged “color revolution.” Washington has denied any connection to the unrest, although the facts once again point in the opposite direction.

However, as the White House confirmed last month, Trump and Musk discussed ensuring that Iranians could use Starlink to access the internet during the protests.

On Thursday, Trump said that he has not spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the possible suspension of dialogue with Iran over its nuclear program, but warned that if no agreement is reached, Washington will activate a second phase that would be tough.

“I will talk to them (the Iranians) as much as I want, and we’ll see if we can reach a deal with them. And if we can’t, we’ll have to move to phase two. Phase two will be very tough for them,” he said.

Trump insisted on the need to reach a nuclear deal with Iran because “otherwise, it will be very traumatic” for the Persian nation. “I don’t want that to happen, but we have to reach an agreement,” he added.

Trump said Tehran should “have reached a deal the first time. Instead, they suffered ‘Midnight Hammer,’” referring to Operation Midnight Hammer, in which the U.S. bombed three Iranian nuclear facilities.

“If (the Iranians) don’t reach an agreement, it will be a different story. But yesterday we had a very good meeting with Bibi Netanyahu, and he understands that, but ultimately it’s up to me whether the deal is fair,” he said.
